Many firsts...

This has been a busy past few days for Jett:
  • He's learned to blow on his food
  • Point when asked where "Nana, Papa, Layne, Daddy, etc" are
  • Says Daddy now (he hasn't been doing this...anytime we would say "Daddy" he would smile and say "Mommy!")
  • He knows and can point to his belly, eyes and nose.
  • He's attempting to go down the stairs backwards now instead of trying to just walk down them.

It seems like there was something else but I can't remember it right now...hopefully it will come to me again!

Memorial Weekend

We had a great weekend with friends and family. Saturday we spent the day at McDaniel's helping them get the pool open. Jett had a great time since he was able to spend the day with Neva. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me so I didn't get any pictures but they were very cute together.

Saturday evening we went to Gardner to watch the hot air balloons. Jett was facinated with them and started pointing and saying "balloon!" Here are a few pictures:

We hope you all had a great weekend as well!

Never Enough Time

It seems lately that time is moving much faster than ever before and more and more things are getting put on the back burner to get to later. I'm starting to think that later will never get here!

I have a stack of photos sitting on my desk that I need to do something with, I have an entire hard drive full of photos I would like to print and get put into albums, I have several half started photo books on my shutterfly account waiting to be completed, I have half of Jett's milestones in his baby book and half on his first year calendar...and since he has turned one the rest are on facebook. I am thankful that at least they are documented somewhere!

Does anyone else feel like you can't get it all together all at the same time? If my house is clean (I mean really clean not just picked up) then we end up eating out or eating quick "junk" food at home. Or if the laundry is all finished then the sink is full of dishes. I thought this comic was all too true! Well I just killed almost 60 of those precious naptime minutes, you know...the ones where you have both hands free to get things done....and guess what...there are still dishes in my sink and laundry that needs to be done but...the world is still spinning! I guess I'll go do the dishes and get off the computer and stop wondering where all my time is going! :0) Have a great day!!!

Did you miss us?

We're back...I had given up on our blog for a while, I got hooked on Facebook and most of our friends and family are on there so I stopped updating this. Anyway, I decided I missed it and it is a great way to keep track of milestones and keep records for the baby book etc.

Jett is almost 14 months now and Jessica will be 8 in just a few weeks. I can't believe how quickly they are growing!

Jessica had her birthday party with her friends this past weekend. She's off traveling the country again for a few weeks so we had her party before she left. Here is a picture of all the girls together.
Jett is no longer walking, he's running....fast....everywhere. He definitely keeps us on our toes! His favorite things include: running, balls (basketballs, baseballs, ping pong balls, beach balls, footballs, soccer balls), yelling, and reading. He's working on his molars still. He has two of them but the other two just seem to be taking their sweet time torturing all of us. Poor guy isn't sleeping well (which means Mommy isn't sleeping well either), he's not eating all that great either. He did just have a great lunch though, we fixed him all his favorites, beans, blueberries, strawberries, black olives, grapes, and crackers.
What else is there to report....Kevin is out of school for the summer. His last day was yesterday and he was pretty excited to call on the way home and say he was officially finished for the year. He is doing baseball lessons this summer however, so if you live in the KC area and need lessons let us know!

I hope to start posting again regularly so stay tuned!

Pulling up

Yesterday Jett decided that he was going to skip the crawling step and just start pulling up on things instead.

He is six months old now and he's such a good baby. Sorry I haven't been doing a great job of keeping my blog updated...I'll work on it!

6 month milestones:

  • He plays peek-a-boo by pulling a blanket back and forth over his face and he LOVES this game!
  • He loves his bath
  • He loves to eat and now eats squash, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, bananas, peaches, carrots, apricots, prunes, plums, pears, zucchini, chicken and applesauce.
  • He started pulling up on things the day he turned six months (he also started sitting on his own the day he turned 5 months-maybe he'll walk when he turns 7 months?)
  • He can get from his belly to a sitting a position on his own.
  • We had to lower the mattress in his crib yesterday.
  • He thinks George is funny and watches him all the time.
  • He loves to drink out of my cup and will grab at it as soon as it is within his reach (there have been several times where I almost ended up with a cup full of water on my lap).
  • He's wearing 6-9 month clothes
  • He has two teeth

Finally...two front teeth!

Jessica and one of her friends selling chips and soda at our garage sale.

No, not Jessica. Jett! He woke up yesterday morning with his bottom two teeth poking through! It was a rough ride getting them too, I'm hoping that was the worst of it cause it wasn't fun for anyone!
We are still waiting on Jessica's two front teeth. We can see the white under her gums but she doesn't have any teeth breaking through just yet. She might be singing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!" I'm thinking they fell out before her birthday, I'd have to go back and look for sure though.

He's 5 months old and he's sitting up on his own now!

He's getting too big too fast! While I really love all the new things he's learning to do I feel like his baby stage is rushing by much too quickly!
