Cody Simpson and Worlds of Fun

Jessica developed an "appreciation" aka "crush" on Cody Simpson before Christmas last year. (For those of you that don't know who Cody Simpson is, he is a teenie bop singer from Australia...similar to Bieber.) Santa brought her a special copy of his CD because it wasn't available for purchase then. She played it almost non-stop for weeks. So, when we heard he was doing a concert at Worlds of Fun we knew we had to take her. I wasn't quite prepared for the hundreds of teenage girls squealing at such high pitched levels! It was a little crazy if you ask me but I have to admit he's a cute kid and he can sing and dance. Here are some pictures from the concert:

Jess had a GREAT seat to start with. People had been cleared out of the center section of seats to be able to video the concert. Since Jess was shorter than most of the girls there, she was able to stand under the video camera and had a clear shot of the stage. All went well until Cody came out...as soon as he came on stage everyone went crazy and forgot about staying out of the way of the camera. Poor Jess couldn't see a thing so Kevin put her on his shoulders. If that isn't love I don't know what is! Kevin watched the rest of the concert on the iPhone of the girl in front of us (she had her phone in the air recording the concert).

After the concert we had a little time to ride rides. Kevin and I haven't been to Worlds of Fun since we were in 7th or 8th grade. It was fun for us to take a trip down memory lane, remembering the trips we had with our parents. Several of the rides have been switched out but some of our old favorites were still there. We took Jessica on her first upside down ride...she was a little nervous at first but then of course didn't want to get off. Kevin and I were a little green by the time we finished-as my grandpa says "It's heck to get old!"
Jessica is growing up so fast, I can't believe how quickly the last nine years have gone. It was a great night and I'm so thankful and appreciative of the happy, healthy, kind and beautiful young lady she is growing up to be.

Mother's Day

For Mother's day we went to the Royals game. It was great weather, we had good seats and we had a great time. Jett was more interested in trying to play baseball...or more accurately just get a ball. Daddy brought his baseball glove to the game for him so in Jett's mind that meant he was supposed to be playing. Daddy came through by the end of the day though, he got a ball from one of the A's players. Jessica was happy as a clam to sit with Nana and Papa and eat her cotton candy and enjoy a nice day outside watching baseball.

Since it was Sunday, the kids were able to go out on the field and run the bases after the game. It was funny to see all the dads watching their sons; holding them up for different poses along the home run fence, playing catch on the warning track and racing along beside them as they ran the bases. All having visions that one day in the future their son will really be a MLB player.
Jett was getting very tired by the 6th inning. I tried standing and rocking him and he came close to falling asleep a few times but insisted on fighting it. As soon as Papa took him to carry him to the car he put his head down and gave up. Papa has the magic touch!

I had a fantastic Mother's Day...I hope all of you did as well!

Big weekend and big news...

We are potty training! We have been at it for a little less than a week and Jett is doing AWESOME! It only took him one morning to get the hang of it. He has been running around the house in his cute little Mickey Mouse and Thomas undies and he's just too dang cute! We have even gone on a few outings and he has stayed dry. I'm so proud of my little guy!

We went to the school carnival this weekend. Jessica ran the 1 mile and did great!

We also went to a birthday party for our nephew, Layne. It was a pool party...the kids had a great time. Here is a video of Jett going down the slide.

Jessica is doing great at soccer! She had a game on Sunday and it was so much fun to watch her play. She was more aggressive than she has been all season and didn't even mind getting a little wet and muddy! We are so proud of her!
