School Program, Swimming and Field Trip

Last Thursday Jessica had her school program "Welcome to the Jungle" and she was a lion.
Jessica and her friend Mackenzie

Friday we went to Topeka with Kevin for one of his shows and stayed at the hotel there with a really cool water slide (you can see it in the back ground). She had so much fun swimming and going down the slide, she is SO ready for summer!!!
Today was her field trip to the hospital, she was so excited! This is the first field trip since she started school that I wasn't able to go on (no siblings allowed-and since I'm nursing leaving him wasn't an option). I'm anxious to hear all about it!
Jett is doing well, he's wearing me out but that goes with the territory! I called the lactation consultant today to make sure everything was going as it should because he's been eating non-stop (even more than normal!!) and acting like he's being starved. I was concerned maybe he wasn't getting enough nutrients or enough milk with everything I've been through in the past few weeks. The consultant assured me that he was doing well and that around 4 weeks they go through a growth spurt and do a lot of eating and sleeping. She said it should last a few days and then he'll start going a little longer between feedings again. We go in for his one month check on Monday, we are anxious to see what the little porker weighs!

Jessica's school carnival

Last Friday Jessica had a carnival at school. Since I had just been released from the hospital I didn't go but Nana and Pops took her and they had a great time.

Wide Awake

Sorry the picture is so dark but I was trying to get him to take a nap yesterday afternoon and he was sound asleep until he heard my head hit the pillow then he was bright eyed and ready to play. Thankfully he did go back to sleep a while later and Mommy got a nap too.

Most recent update on everyone:

Tuesday night Jessica had an art show at her school. I wasn't feeling well so I wasn't able to go but Pops took her and she was able to show off all her art around the school and they took pictures of everything! She is so talented!

Here are some pictures of Jett today before I got home. Pops got him dressed today and even though his little Adidas shorts are size 6 months he couldn't wait to put him in them! LOL

Here is an update from the beginning of our whole ordeal: After I had Jett two weeks ago I started getting kind of queasy and then started vomiting, a week after he was born I ended up going to the doctor's office again because I was vomiting so much and beginning to dehydrate. They gave me an antibiotic and some meds to hopefully help with the vomiting and sent me home. That night we ended up in the ER and they did a CAT Scan on me and found I had a kidney infection. So they gave me more meds and sent us home. I was in bed most of Wed & Thursday again, Thursday I started vomiting again and running a low grade fever, called the doc and his nurse told me to give it another 24 hours. So I called back Friday morning (after throwing up all night Thursday) and they wanted to just change my meds instead of seeing me...I told them NO I wanted an appt. So I got in to see him Friday and as soon as he saw me he told me he was admitting me to the hospital for dehydration. So I was in the hospital all last weekend and got discharged on Easter Sunday. I went home and within a few hours started getting sick again. I called the doc back and he scheduled a sono for Monday morning. At the sono they found out that I still had left over placenta and blood clots from Jett's birth left in my uterus so they scheduled a D&C for Tuesday morning. I went and did that and they said it went really well. By Tuesday evening I was in extreme pain and ended up passing out at home. I ended up being transported to the ER via ambulance because I couldn't stand, walk, etc. Kevin couldn't get me to the car and was afraid I would pass out again. My blood pressure was below 90/50 and the EMT started an IV on me while I was still laying in my bed. When we got to the hospital ER they started the battery of tests on me again, they did x-rays, CAT Scan, Sono, etc. Turns out that after the D&C Tuesday things didn't go as well as expected, and I ended up having a blood clot the size of a 20 week old fetus in my uterus. They did an emergency D&C again Wednesday morning to remove the clot. They admitted me to the hospital again and I was there until this afternoon.
Here is a picture from yesterday morning when Kevin and Rita brought Jett to the hospital to see me.
I had two blood transfusions while I was in the hospital and they debated on a third before they sent me home but decided against it. I have to go in to the doc on Monday to get my blood redrawn to test my hemoglobin levels again to make sure I'm not bleeding internally again. I'm ready for this nightmare to be over!!!! The final answer I received on what happened to me during the past two and half weeks was that I had a "boggy" uterus and after delivery my uterus was contracting but there were clots and placenta left behind so it was trying to contract around that and it wasn't working, that is when I had the first D&C. After the first D&C I had a uterine infection which prevented my uterus from contracting correctly so the blood vessels remained open and bleeding causing the blood clot and the reason for the second D&C. The doctor's seem to think that everything is fine now though.
We didn't have Jessica come to the hospital to see me since I was hooked up to the IV and in the bed and all in all not looking all that great. When I came home from the first hospital stay I had a huge bruise on my arm and she was very concerned about that and would often come to check on me to see if my arm hurt or if I was doing okay. We didn't want to scare her anymore so we decided to not have her visit during my second stay.
I have to thank my wonderful husband for everything he has done in the past 2 1/2 weeks (and MUCH longer than that!). I couldn't imagine a better husband and our kids couldn't find a better Pops anywhere. He is such a wonderful man and has taken such good care of all of us for the past few weeks! Thank you babe, I'm so happy to be home again!
Thank you also to my mom and Kevin's mom and dad for everything they have done as well! My mom came to visit the week after Jett was born and unfortunately I was so sick and barely got out of bed the entire time she was here. I don't have a single picture of her with either of the kids-it broke my heart to have her leave when I barely saw her, I'm very thankful she was here though with as sick as I was!

Jett's first bath

Today he had his first bath in the big tub. He loved it, he was calm and quiet and seemed to really relax and enjoy it. I love the "baby" smell after their bath when they are all warm and lathered with lotion and in cuddly clean pj's. I just loved on him and rocked him for a few hours after his bath. I love that little guy!

D & C tomorrow...

I went in for our sonogram this morning and they found that my uterus didn't contract and push out as much "debris" as it should have. The doctor said the best course of action to get me back to normal would be to do the D & C tomorrow morning since it will have been 2 weeks tomorrow since I delivered and there is still so much left behind. So tomorrow morning at 6:30 Kevin and I will be at the surgery center and I should be out by 9:00 am I think. We are hoping that after the procedure I will be back to normal within a day or two. I still haven't thrown up since about 5:30 last night and I've been able to hold down a little breakfast pizza and some chicken noodles today so that is some progress!

During the sonogram she also checked my gall bladder and kidneys just to make sure we weren't missing anything. The gall bladder looked good and she did confirm again there is a stone in my right kidney, lets just hope it stays where it is and doesn't start causing problems too!

I'm not sure how I'll feel tomorrow after the procedure but thank you in advance for all the thoughts and prayers and I'll update again as soon as I am able. I have enjoyed spending the day with my little guy and not feeling like I'm about hurl at any given moment. Jessica will be home in a few minutes and we already have a cuddle date planned to sit in our chair and rock with her, Jett and me! I'm soaking up all the lovin' from them I can get in case I'm passed out in bed for the next two days again!

I get to go home today! YAY, Happy Easter! I still don't think they know exactly what is wrong with me, they think kidney/UTI but neither of those would cause the vomiting. I asked them this morning if it could possibly be an ulcer on top of it because I've noticed when I get agitated or stressed then my stomach pain/queasiness usually becomes much worse and very quickly. So they are going to have me take some "protonix" to see if that helps. Nothing like just pumping a person full of drugs to "see" if that could be it. At this point I'm so glad to go home I couldn't care less though!

Here is a nice picture of the bruise they left on my arm when they were trying to do my IV...

Update: So it is now Sunday evening and I'm at home but still vomiting. I have called the doctor again and he ordered some different meds for me and thankfully I was able to get them before the pharmacy closed for the day. I took them about an hour and 1/2 ago and I am doing a little bit better. I go back in for a sonogram tomorrow morning to find out how much "debris" is left in my uterus to see if I need a D & C. The CAT Scan from Tuesday showed there was some "debris" left behind and at first the doctor's didn't seem concerned about it but now some of the other symptoms I'm having have them a little more concerned about it...we'll see what shows up tomorrow.

Back in the Hospital...

We went home last Thursday and I was feeling queasy off and on. By Tuesday I was vomiting and really queasy all the time. I went to the doctor and he put me on an antibiotic for infection and gave me some anti-vomit meds...by Tuesday night I was dehydrating and still vomiting so we went to the ER for fluids. They did a CAT Scan while we were there and found I had a severe kidney infection. He doubled my antibiotics and said I should be feeling better in 36-48 hours. Wednesday I was able to get out of bed a little but then Thursday I was vomiting and sick all day again. Went back to the doctor on Friday and he admitted me to the hospital for a minimum of 48 hours, so I'll be here until at least Sunday. :( My mom left early early this morning so Kevin is on Dad Double Duty on his own, poor guy, but he has everything under control. I have talked to him a few times today and he seems to think all the little guy does is eat and poop! lol

I haven't done anything but sleep since I've been admitted to the hospital, this is the longest I've been awake since I got here. I'm about to eat lunch and then go back to sleep, it passes the time and when I do finally get to go home at least I'll be as rested as possible.

Update

Sorry for not updating in the past few days, I ended up in the ER Tuesday night due to stomach pain and dehydration. I have a kidney infection and they started me on antibiotics and I'm hoping they will kick in soon, as of now they aren't yet. I've been in bed for the past several days only waking up to nurse our little guy. I'll be back on with pictures when I'm feeling better.

1 year anniversary

Today is our one year anniversary and I can't believe how quickly the past year has passed. Obviously we've had one major change this week that has been a long time coming and has taken up most of that year but we've had other changes as well. We moved to a new home, Jessica changed schools and started first grade, Kevin changed jobs and the most recent, Jett joined our family. It has been a WONDERFUL year and we truely have so much to be grateful for. I hope the next 50 years are as wonderful as this one!

Jett Pics from Saturday Night

Here are some more pictures of our little big man! We love his little features.

(although not all his features are "little", check out the cellulite on those arms! lol)
Jett's hand/mitt....Kevin's finger is in there somewhere:)

Thank you Papa!!!

Kevin's dad made Jett this beautiful dresser and hutch. It is absolutely perfect. His talent is amazing and we have been trying to tell him that he needs to start a business making custom furniture!

We're home!

We headed for home Thursday around noon, here is a picture of our cute little guy all sacked out for the ride home:
We had only been home for a few hours and I was trying to nurse him before catching a quick nap before Jess got home from school, I didn't make it until after he ate! Mommy was sleepy!
Here is a pic from last night, our little guy had a full belly and was down for the count! Jett has had his days and nights confused so that has been hard on us but last night was MUCH better and we were able to get a lot of much needed sleep.

More Jett pictures...

Just a few more pictures of our big guy.

Poor Jett had to go get his circumcision this morning, he's there now, I couldn't bring myself to go with him, I'll just love on him when he gets back!

I was able to get up and take a shower this morning and put on human clothes instead of the hospital gown and I am feeling much more human today! Jett didn't let us get much sleep last night, he thought it was pretty lonely in his bassinet by himself so I ended up holding him most of the night which meant I got very little sleep. Also this little chunky monkey thinks he needs to eat for 45 minutes to an hour each time he eats so I already feel like all I'm doing is nursing and changing diapers!
Here are some pictures of our visitors we've had since we've been in the hospital:
Chelsea:
Patty:
Sherri and Butch:

Erin and Granny & Grandpa have also come to visit but we didn't get pictures...sorry!
